So I've been compulsively toiling on this with Jim Moulton's help. Here is our latest, which I think is pretty great. Our latest: 'Using Maine's PAST to Move Forward' and the acronym would just be the quick and easy PAST (Partnership for the Archives Schools and Technology). For example "Is your library connected to PAST?"
Jim and I also both like the idea of growing the understanding of the definition of "archives". On that note I have posted an email that Dave received today under "PD ideas" for everyone to check out.
Looking for ideas for acronyms. Also trying to figure out how to set this up correctly...
Ah ha. I think I'm getting it.
CIHD-- Communities Imaging Historic Documents
ETHICS-- Expanding Technology and History for Instruction in Communities and Schools - could even be Expanding Technology and History In Communities and Schools
TEACHME - Technology Expanding Access to Community History in Maine
PAST in Maine -- Partnership for Archives, Schools, and Technology in Maine
a note on "archives" I like the whole "PAST" bit, so I used "archives" for the A and have included the Merriam Webster definition here. Although libraries and historical societies don't call themselves archives, the word is an appropriate description of both the historical society and it's contents. In other words, I'm trying to be inclusive and make a cute acronym.
ARCHIVE: 1: a place in which public records or historical documents are preserved; also : the material preserved —often used in plural 2: a repository or collection especially of information
